WE RISE LGBTQ SCHOLARSHIP
The We Rise LGBTQ Scholarship is born of the notion that helping out an individual lifts our entire community and is funded by the Grass Roots Gay Rights Foundation (GRGRF). Our grant focuses on the development of skills necessary to find meaningful employment opportunities.
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds who share a dedication to the advancement of LGBTQ rights. Our grants will provide support for a person attending a school or vocational training program— launching their career and changing their future. We celebrate and support a wide spectrum of dreams - tell us yours in your application, whatever the path may be. Our hope is to inspire members of our community to reach for their star and bring others along on their journey.
The We Rise LGBTQ Scholarship awards one time gifts annually to selected applicants in the San Francisco Bay Area who can share their stories of where they have been, and more importantly, where they aim to go. We are deeply inspired by those who have and perhaps still do face great adversity and are now seeking a more rewarding future.
$2,500/grantee/year
Available for post-High School education including but not limited to trade and technical degrees or certificates, and Associate and Bachelor’s degrees
The program will focus on training programs and education options that lead to financial stability
Underserved groups within the LGBTQ+ community strongly encouraged to apply
Application process will be administered by Horizons Foundation
The application deadline for 2024 is May 31, 2024. Awardees will be notified in July 2024.

Post-award requirements:
Be currently enrolled or formally accepted to a program and prior to graduation from their course of study at time of award letter
Provide evidence of good standing, easily available from the program registrar
Fulfill all requirements within 4 months of the date of the award letter
